This template combines the effects of the {{tl|overset}} and {{tl|underset}} templates into one. The template names {{tl|overunderset}} and {{tl|underoverset}} are synonymous and can be used interchangeably: <nowiki>{{underoverset}}</nowiki> redirects to <nowiki>{{overunderset}}</nowiki>.

==Syntax==
The code is:

:which outputs as {{underoverset|base|over|under}}.

where:
;<code>base</code>: the main symbol,

The effect of an can be achieved by combining underset followed by overset:

but sometimes one combination will not work, particularly when there is only one combined application of templates on a line:

The overunderset is one way around the problem using by containing the over- and under- positions for symbols:
